Prior to implementation of Matrix, all sample tracking was on paper and although most of the information concerning the location of samples was captured, it was prohibitively time consuming to create reports to support investigations and to answer customer questions. Generating a complete history or chain of custody on a sample(s) was difficult and time consuming.
